Police update: Puppies stolen, Mitchelton

A second puppy stolen from a home in Mitchelton on Sunday has been recovered and reunited with its owners today following investigations by Ferny Grove Criminal Investigation Branch and Ferny Grove Property Crime Team.

Police attended a unit in Stafford at 7.45am this morning and conducted a search where they located the four-week-old Maltese Shitzu cross, allegedly in the possession of two men.

Officers also located a quantity of drugs at the address.

A 23-year-old man has been charged with burglary and animal cruelty and is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow (March 9).

A 32-year-old man is currently assisting police with inquiries in relation to drug offences.

The female puppy was taken to a vet clinic for examination before being returned to her owner and mum.

The first stolen puppy, a male, was found during the search of a separate property on March 6.

Police would like to extend their thanks to members of the public for their going assistance and commitment to recovering the puppies safely.
