A 43-year-old Tinana man who was allegedly struck and fell to the ground striking his head, has died in hospital overnight.
Just after 2.30am on August 19, officers were called to the intersection of Kent and Richmond Streets following reports of an altercation.
The 43-year-old man was taken to Hervey Bay Hospital before being transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he later died.
A 23-year-old man was charged with grievous bodily harm and will now have his charge upgraded to unlawful striking causing death, in the Maryborough Magistrates Court this morning.
