Detectives from Moreton District have launched a homicide investigation as they continue to appeal for information following the suspicious death of a 23-year-old woman at Caboolture this morning.
Police were called to a Railway Parade address around 12.10am where they located the woman unconscious and unresponsive.
The woman was declared deceased a short time later and a crime scene established.
Initial investigations indicate the woman was assaulted by two males and sustained a gunshot wound outside the Railway Parade property.
Forensic officers and detectives remain at the scene conducting investigations and inquiries.
Detectives do not believe this to be a random attack and inquiries indicate those involved were known to each other, however have established Operation Whiskey Cortland with assistance from the Homicide Investigation Unit to look into the circumstances surrounding the woman's death.
Investigators urge anyone that may have information in relation to this incident contact police, particularly, anyone traveling along Railway Parade from 11.40pm Saturday, December 21 to shortly thereafter with dashcam.
