Older residents across Corangamite Shire have more opportunities to get help accessing the services they need.

Council's Positive Ageing & Inclusion Team are again visiting libraries across the Shire.

Chief Executive Officer David Rae said the team could help residents

  • understand the aged care system including eligibility, access, assessment and how to find a service provider;
  • link in with other agencies including social services, health and community participation opportunities;
  • join in with active aging programs and activities to keep them healthy, active and connected; and
  • access food relief.

"Our staff got a great response from community members when they took the Navigation Support Program on the road from July through September," Mr Rae said.

"There is a wide range of assistance available to our residents from various aged care and assessment services and different organisations. That can be a bit overwhelming for people who aren't familiar with the system. The Navigation Support Program is free and confidential. I encourage anyone who wants to learn what services are available to them to come along and learn how Council can help connect you.
