Power Failure Fixed: Generators Provide Emergency Power

The power supply on the university grounds in Wageningen was fully restored after the power failed on Wednesday morning. "Since half past 10 yesterday evening, power has been restored to all affected buildings and research facilities," says Dolf Straathof from the crisis team set up in response to the incident. Large emergency power generators have been placed on the site at Unifarm.

"All systems have been started up and, as far as can be seen now, all systems are running properly," Straathof said. What impact the power cut will have on the research and experiments taking place in the affected buildings is being assessed.

Fire at Unifarm

A report of a fire in a transformer house at Unifarm came in around 7.30 am on Wednesday morning. The fire brigade was quickly on the spot to extinguish the fire. Power was out in several buildings and research facilities. Hard work was carried out until late Wednesday evening to prevent research and experiments from being lost as a result. The cause of that fire is being investigated.
