Power, Fernandez-Taranco Discuss Development Coordination

On November 6, Administrator Samantha Power met with UN Assistant Secretary-General for Development Coordination Oscar Fernandez-Taranco to discuss the arbitrary and unlawful detention of UN, diplomatic, and NGO staff by the Houthis. The Administrator expressed strong concern about the recent referral of several detainees for criminal prosecution on false charges of espionage and urged the UN to continue exploring all diplomatic channels to secure their release immediately. Administrator Power reaffirmed the need for immediate action and the United States' commitment to support the people of Yemen.
