Today, Administrator Samantha Power spoke with Taoiseach of Ireland Simon Harris. They discussed the dire humanitarian crises in Gaza and Sudan, emphasizing strong concern about the worsening scale and severity of humanitarian needs. Administrator Power thanked Taoiseach Harris for Ireland's support to Haiti, and recognized Ireland's critical efforts to support the return of Ukrainian children from Russia.
The Administrator and the Taoiseach also discussed opportunities for expanding the robust collaboration between USAID and Irish Aid, which includes an ongoing partnership focused on improving food security. Administrator Power welcomed Ireland's participation in the newly-launched Partnership for a Lead-Free Future, which aims to end childhood lead poisoning in developing nations by 2040.
