Power Meets UK's Dodds for Development, Equality Talks

USAID

Today, Administrator Samantha Power spoke with the United Kingdom's Minister of State for Development and Minister of State for Women and Equalities Anneliese Dodds. Administrator Power and Minister Dodds discussed developments in the Middle East, including the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the situation in Syria, and the continued Houthi detentions of UN, NGO, and diplomatic staff in Yemen.

Administrator Power and Minister Dodds also discussed shared support for Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia, as well as the importance of continued high-level advocacy in the development sector for protection from sexual exploitation and abuse and sexual harassment. Earlier this year, USAID joined governments, civil society organizations, multilateral institutions, and others in global development in endorsing the Common Approach to Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Sexual Abuse, and Sexual Harassment. They underscored the shared commitment of the U.S. and UK to coordinate and align efforts in responding to the range of global humanitarian challenges.
