Power Meets UN Security Chief Michaud

Today, Administrator Power met with UN Under-Secretary General for Safety and Security Gilles Michaud. Administrator Power and Under-Secretary General Michaud discussed ongoing security concerns for humanitarian workers in Gaza that are impacting the delivery of humanitarian aid, including challenges to safe movement for humanitarian actors and criminal gang activity. Administrator Power noted continued U.S. efforts to work with the Government of Israel, the United Nations, and humanitarian partners to enable safe passage for convoys and increase the flow of aid within Gaza.

Administrator Power also expressed condolences for the loss of three World Food Program (WFP) staff killed in an attack at a WFP field office in Sudan on December 19, and continued concern for UN staff operating in Sudan and around the world.
