Power Meets World Bank's Iyer for South Asia Talks

USAID

Today, Administrator Samantha Power met with the World Bank Executive Director for Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, and Sri Lanka Param Iyer to discuss coordination on several high-level development priorities, including USAID and the World Bank's work to mitigate the harmful effects of lead exposure.

As part of a broader discussion on how to deepen USAID-World Bank engagement in the region, the two discussed how USAID and the World Bank can work together on the recently launched Partnership for a Lead-Free Future, a USAID and UN-led initiative to end childhood lead poisoning in low- and middle-income countries, including finding opportunities for improved donor coordination, resource mobilization, and technical assistance.
