A precious gold signet ring has been lost in Gympie last Wednesday, May 10, Queensland Police say.
A gentleman attended the counter of the Gympie Police Station over the weekend to enquire if anyone had handed in a 9 ct gold signet ring that is engraved with his initials (pictured), which was given to him by his parents for his 21st birthday. His parents are now deceased and the family were originally from the UK, where he was still living at the time of this milestone.
This ring has never left his finger in 53 years until Wednesday when it was lost sometime between 11am and 3pm. The man and his wife spent that period of time shopping, so he was able to outline everywhere that they had been that day. They visited numerous stores at Monkland and then a petrol station on Bath Terrace, Gympie on the way home.
The man has since retraced his steps and attended and/or rung each business but to no avail. It dawned on him to visit the police station on the off chance that a member of the public may have found his ring and handed it in.
