Preferred Site Selected For New Snug Ambulance Station

Tasmanian Government

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is continuing to deliver the critical infrastructure Ambulance Tasmania needs, with a preferred site now selected for the brand new Snug Ambulance Station.

The site at 10 Wellbor Road, Snug, is vacant land alongside the Snug Fire Station and has direct access onto the Channel Highway.

Minister for Health, Jacquie Petrusma, said the new station will provide a dedicated, contemporary and purpose-built station that will house all of Ambulance Tasmania's needs, with capacity for the future expansion of services.

"Establishing the new, state-of-the-art station at Snug will reduce call-out response times for incidents in Snug and communities further south along the Channel Highway," Minister Petrusma said.

"Our Government is bolstering ambulance and paramedic services across the State as part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future.

"Planning is well underway to build four new ambulance stations at Cygnet, Snug, Legana and King Island.

"Since coming to Government, we have committed to building 16 new or upgraded ambulance stations for our expanding ambulance service, to ensure Tasmanians receive the right care, at the right place, at the right time."

The Department of Health has consulted closely with Ambulance Tasmania, the State Fire Commission, and Kingborough Council on the preferred location.

Planning and design for the new station is progressing and public consultation is expected to take place in June 2025, with the station expected to be completed in late 2026.
