Clarence Valley Council has considered a Preliminary Environmental Investigation into the potential for a new Yamba Urban Bypass. The investigation scopes potential environmental impacts and provides advice on the future planning for the proposed bypass corridor.
The Preliminary Environmental Investigation was undertaken by specialist consultants who assessed possible impacts on both the natural environment and First Nations cultural heritage. The study showed there are significant environmental as well as First Nations heritage values.
Council and Transport for NSW have commenced discussions about the preparation of a Network Plan to investigate Yamba's transport planning challenges and to identify solutions, and will now progress grant applications to fund this work.
A key part of the proposed Network Plan is to examine the future investment that is needed for infrastructure and how this infrastructure could be staged, ensuring that the transportation needs of the Yamba community are advanced.
Current planning controls and developer contributions collection will remain in place.
