Goulburn Mulwaree Council is pleased to announce it has secured $20,000 in funding from the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund to assist with the much-needed resurfacing of Prell Oval. Council will also contribute matched funding towards this important community project.
Prell Oval is a valued sporting facility featuring a grass playing surface, turf cricket wicket, boundary fencing, and sight screens. However, in recent seasons the playing surface has significantly deteriorated, raising safety concerns and rendering it unsuitable for competitive matches.
The funded works will be undertaken in the 2025/26 financial year and will include resurfacing and leveling of the oval using industry-standard sand, along with the planting of specialized turf grass to ensure a high-quality, safe playing surface.
"Council extends its sincere thanks to both Cricket Australia and Cricket New South Wales for their support via the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund. This investment will restore Prell Oval to a safe and competitive standard, supporting local cricket and ensuring the facility remains a key part of the region's sporting infrastructure." Said Goulburn Mulwaree Council Mayor Nina Dillon.
