Lula mentioned issues of common interest between the two countries, such as air transport, trade and investment, energy transition and, especially, climate change.
In a speech given during his official visit to Guyana, Brazil's President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva listed topics that are of common interest to the two countries-such as air transport; trade and investments; energy transition; and especially climate change. These topics are all addressed directly by working groups and the Global Mobilization Against Climate Change Task Force. Combating climate change is one of the priorities of Brazil's G20 presidency.
Observing that Guyana, like Brazil, is part of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO), Lula invited the country to participate in the G20 climate meeting. "Guyana has the same concerns as Brazil and makes an immeasurable effort to take care of its forests," said the Brazilian president. "That's why I invited them to participate in the G20 climate meeting in Brazil, so that they can expose the monetization they are making around the preservation of the Guyanese forest."
In a meeting in Georgetown with the President of Guyana Irfaan Ali, Lula suggested that a business commission from the country visit Brazil to show businesspeople the opportunities that Guyana presents for investment.
