MidCoast Council's Ruth Hallett has taken out a prestigious award at the 2024 Ministers' Awards for Women in Local Government.
Working out of the Gloucester depot as a works engineer construction and maintenance, Ms Hallett was recognised and celebrated at the awards ceremony on Tuesday 20 August for her achievements and contributions to Council.
Ms Hallett leads and inspires a team of 35 staff, oversees multi-million-dollar projects, delivering great outcomes for maintenance and renewal of Council's transport network to benefit the MidCoast community.
Council's General Manager, Adrian Panuccio, said women are underrepresented in local government engineering and commended Ms Hallett on her achievement.
"Ruth has spearheaded a significant cultural shift within her team, fostering a strong commitment to Council's project management framework and construction management plans," he said.
"Ruth is approachable, open-minded, and has developed a strong rapport with team members in a male dominated workplace, where she is the only supervising female in the team.
"Regular and effective communication is key to Ruth's leadership approach, as is the enthusiasm she instils in others to provide outstanding public services for the local community.
"All of MidCoast Council congratulate Ruth on her well-deserved award."
