Attorney General John Quigley has appointed Principal Registrar Larissa Strk as a judge of the Supreme Court of Western Australia.
Ms Strk has been Principal Registrar of the Supreme Court since 2016. During that time she has also served terms as an Acting Judge and an Acting Master of the Supreme Court.
Before joining the Court, Ms Strk was a legal practitioner for 18 years, becoming a partner of the international law firm King & Wood Mallesons.
She practised in the firm's dispute resolution group and performed leadership roles in programs concerning equality and diversity, and mentoring.
Ms Strk also played a significant part in community programs.
The University of Western Australia law graduate's appointment brings to five the number of women judges on the Supreme Court.
As stated by Attorney General John Quigley:
"I congratulate Larissa Strk on her well-deserved appointment at the Supreme Court.
"Ms Strk is well qualified for the role, having been a judicial officer at the Court for five years, including an eight-month stint as an Acting Judge.
"Before then she was a highly regarded practitioner in commercial litigation, particularly in insolvency, corporate restructuring and banking.
"Ms Strk brings a wealth of experience to hearing commercial matters as a Supreme Court judge."
