Upgrades to the Bass Highway between Wynyard and Marrawah are a step closer, with the release of the Government's long-term strategy.
The strategy outlines improvement opportunities and priorities, as part of our commitment to upgrade road infrastructure across the state.
The Australian and Tasmanian Governments have committed $100 million to upgrade this section of the Bass Highway.
"The Bass Highway Wynyard to Marrawah Corridor Strategy delivers an evidence-based plan to address current and future transport needs," Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Minister Ferguson said.
"The proposed projects include new overtaking lanes, junction upgrades and safety improvements.
"Implementing these projects will improve road safety and increase productivity by providing a more efficient road corridor in Tasmania's North-West."
Federal Member for Braddon Gavin Pearce said the Australian Government was pleased to assist in making roads in the North-West safer.
"The strategy has been developed in consultation with stakeholders and the community, incorporating a review of current and future road demand, and an assessment of the highway's current performance," Mr Pearce said.
Construction of key projects identified in the strategy will start later this year.
The community will be consulted further as other priority projects are developed.
