Private Investment On Up In Tasmania

Tasmanian Government

Latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics shows private investment in Tasmania hit $2.25bn in 2024.

This was a 16.3 per cent increase on the 2023 calendar year.

Treasurer, Guy Barnett, said private investment plays a vital role in Tasmania.

"Our Government has always recognised the importance of stimulating and enabling private investment in our State," the Treasurer said.

"Since we came to Government in 2014 private investment in Tasmania is up 68.8 per cent.

"From large-scale renewable and energy projects to advanced manufacturing – these investments are benefitting everyday Tasmanians.

"This investment is making its way to Tasmania because we have worked hard to back business, back jobs and back the economy.

"We're slashing red tape to get more homes built, delivering a $30 billion infrastructure pipeline and ensuring we have job-ready Tasmanians to get it done.

"We want to see more private investment in Tasmania and through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future we're finding ways to bring this vision to life."
