Probe Launched Following Motorcyclist's Death in Tweed/Byron

Police have commenced an investigation after the body of a motorcycle rider was located on the state's north coast today.

About 5.20am (Monday 5 February 2024), emergency services were called to Chinderah, about 4km west of Kingscliff, following reports a body had been located in the southbound lanes of the M1.

Officers from Tweed/Byron Police District attended and established a crime scene.

A search of the area revealed a crashed motorcycle on the Tweed Valley Way overpass, with initial investigations suggest the rider was ejected from the overpass onto the M1.

Tweed/Byron Police have commenced an investigation into the incident, and anyone with information is urged to come forward.

The identity of the rider is unknown at this stage.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
