Project Sustainable Us

Wingecarribee Shire

Do you know a local sustainability champion?

Wingecarribee Shire Council is looking for unsung local champions who are helping to drive sustainable living across the Southern Highlands.

Council's Deputy General Manager Marissa Racomelara explained why Council was on the look-out for inspirational Highlanders.

"We know that across our Shire many of our residents are taking steps to reduce their impact on the environment," she said. "They're making pro-active choices that encourage more sustainable living."

"It's these people we want to hear about to feature in a series of short video productions we've commissioned to air from next year."

Ms Racomelara said the size of the initiative was irrelevant.

"It doesn't matter if the change is big or small, on an industrial-scale or confined to a single household," she said.

"What matters is that the person or group are actively taking the lead to reduce their environmental footprint."

Council's Manager of Environment and Sustainability Barry Arthur said the video would help to promote and share green initiatives with other residents.

"This video project will not only shine a light on some of the great green projects being undertaken by our citizens but will inspire others to follow suit or come up with their own sustainable solutions," he said.

Individuals, groups, organisations and businesses are all encouraged to participate.
