The first part of DarkLab's Project X will be installed at Hastings Caves in Geeveston in time for the Dark Mofo festival this June.
Project X, jointly funded through a $2 million Commonwealth and Tasmanian Government investment, will see a programme of public art installations throughout the Huon Valley over the next 6-12 months.
Hrafn: Conversations with Odin is a sound installation performed at Hastings Caves by renowned sound artist Chris Watson who has previously worked with Sir David Attenborough.
Hrafn will take the audience on an audible journey into the deep, dark wilds of the far south.
This exciting project will be a much-needed boost to the Huon's visitor economy following the summer bushfires, luring more visitors to the region which will support local businesses and tourism jobs.
The DarkLab team has worked closely with Tourism Tasmania and the Parks and Wildlife Service to enable the installation of the work at Hastings Caves.
The first stage of Project X will leverage on the success of Dark Mofo and compliment Tourism Tasmania's recently launched $3.5 million winter campaign, which entices visitors to embrace our winter.
