The Warrnambool Foreshore Promenade has been named as Australia's most scenic bike trial.
TimeOut published a list of the top 10 scenic cycling routes, with Warrnambool topping the list ahead of the Moreton Bay Cycleway in Queensland, Melbourne's Jones Creek Trail and the Outer Harbour Greenway in Adelaide.
Over 200 routes were scored as part of the study, with totals based on trail ratings and reviews, total number of Instagram hashtags and amount of photos uploaded on Alltrails.
The promenade runs 5.7km from the Warrnambool Breakwater to Point Ritchie - Moyjil at the mouth of the Hopkins River.
Warrnambool Mayor Ben Blain welcomed the news.
"To be named as the most scenic bike trail in Australia is a really impressive feat considering the competition," he said.
"But it makes perfect sense. The promenade is just such an amazing place.
"It's somewhere that is enjoyed year-round too. Even on a cold and windy day, you'll see people down there in their jackets walking or riding, and I think that says a lot about just how good of a trail it is.
"Rain or shine, it's a really popular place that is a real magnet for tourists as well as being somewhere that enhances the liveability of Warrnambool for locals."
