Property Council Chief Executive Mike Zorbas said private and public capital markets play a vital role in the economy, supporting growth, investment and productivity.
"Flexibility and access to credit are crucial for housing and city development," Mr Zorbas said.
"The property industry frequently relies on both private and public credit to finance its projects.
"Domestic and global capital flows are increasingly borderless, and we need to make sure Australia's appeal as an investment destination is promoted and protected.
"Any review of regulatory practices must strike a balance between ensuring open, transparent, and attractive private and public capital markets while avoiding the burden of overregulation.
"The Property Council looks forward to working with ASIC to create open, transparent private and public capital markets in a productive regulatory framework," he said.
