Property Council welcomes new Deputy Premier

The Tasmanian Division of the Property Council of Australia has welcomed the Tasmanian Government's new Deputy Premier Guy Barnett MP.

Executive Director Rebecca Ellston said Tasmanians want certainty and stability with a large list of election commitments still to deliver on.

"We congratulate Guy Barnett on his appointment as Deputy Premier and we will continue to work closely with him on providing solutions to the challenges our industry faces.

"We also thank outgoing Deputy Premier and Treasurer Michael Ferguson, his dedication to industry stakeholders and experience in cabinet will be missed.

"The Property Council has appreciated Michael's understanding of the importance of the property and building sector and has enjoyed a long working relationship with him as the Minister responsible.

"Most recently his assistance in transitional arrangements for the National Construction Code, and his involvement in the Development Assessment Panel framework."

"We will await the forthcoming cabinet announcement for further portfolio changes."
