Property crime, stolen vehicle charges at Kingsthorpe

Police have charged two men following a series of incidents across Toowoomba over the two days.

Police will be alleged on Monday evening February 21 a VW Amarok utility was stolen from a Newtown address after the house was broken into.

It will further be alleged in the early hours of yesterday morning, the same vehicle was abandoned at a Weedons Road, Kingsthorpe address. The occupants of this residence were not home at the time but were alerted by a security camera of a break and enter at the premises and notified police.

The two men then allegedly stole a Toyota Landcruiser Utility from this address and left the area. Soon afterward police received information from members of the public that the stolen Landcruiser was spotted on the railway between Toowoomba and Kingsthorpe.

Further information from the public advised police of two people acting suspiciously in Filmers Road, Kingsthorpe.

Toowoomba Dog Squad and police attended and after a search of the area, located the pair who were taken into custody just after 2pm.

Police will allege both men are responsible for this series of burglary and theft of vehicles.

Toowoomba Police would like to take this opportunity to thank the public for their help in providing information leading to their arrests.

A 19-year-old Harristown man has been charged with burglary, two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and enter premises.

A 26-year-old Warwick man has been charged with four counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and two counts stealing.

They will both appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court today.
