Detectives from Dutton Park Property Crime, with the assistance of teams from Taskforce Guardian, South Brisbane Tactical Crime Squads, Polair, Acacia Ridge Criminal Investigation Branch and general duties, have arrested and charged a 16-year-old boy with 75 property crime offences.
It will be alleged the boy was involved in numerous break and enters and stolen vehicles across the greater Brisbane region, with offences spanning from the eastern, western and inner city suburbs over the last few months.
It will be further alleged the boy also posted some offences on social media platforms.
Officers from the Dutton Park Property Crime Team searched multiple dwellings under the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act on Thursday, February 15 and the boy was taken into custody at an address in Inala without incident.
The 16-year-old Durack boy has been charged with 75 offences, including enter dwelling and commit, trespass, unlawful possession of a motor vehicle (publish on social media), attempted enter dwelling and commit, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, stealing and attempted enter premises with intent.
He has been remanded in custody and was due to appear before Brisbane Children's Court on February 16.
Assistant Commissioner for Youth Crime Andrew Massingham commended the officers across multiple jurisdictions for working together to ensure the person responsible is held accountable for their actions.
"The coordinated response to this prolific property offending is commendable and is a reflection of the determination of officers, who work hard to hold young offenders to account," Assistant Commissioner Massingham said.
"We want the community to know police are listening and taking proactive action to arrest those serious offenders who put community safety at risk."
