With the holidays upon us and Summer in full swing, it's important to display respectful behaviours towards others and our natural environment.
Here are some ways you can show love towards our bay:
- Be mindful of others
Show respect towards others in our local community to make our Foreshore a safe and positive environment.
Be a good neighbour by checking in with others and reaching out to anyone who may need help.
- Swim within your ability and consider other swimmers
Be mindful of your swimming ability and keep a watchful eye on young children and inexperienced swimmers.
Beaches along Botany Bay are not patrolled so follow water safety procedures when swimming. It is also recommended that you check beach conditions before you visit.
- Respect our marine life and natural environment
Be respectful towards the unique flora and fauna that live along the foreshore in order to preserve our diverse land and marine ecosystems.
You can read more about Bayside's natural flora and fauna here.
- Keep our bay clean
To ensure cleaner, healthier beaches, practice sustainable behaviour such as avoiding single use plastics, choosing reusable items, placing rubbish in the bin, or taking rubbish with you.
Smoking is strictly prohibited on our beaches and foreshore.

- Be conscious of road rules and signage
Park in accordance with signage, and do not park across driveways or on grass verges. Rangers conduct regular patrols.
- Use coal-fired BBQs in designated areas
There are four designated areas along the Foreshore for using a coal-fired BBQs in one of the four designated areas. Dispose of hot coals correctly in hot coals bins.

Additionally, you can keep an eye out for Bayside Beach Buddies, our staff members who walk the Foreshore during peak times. They are equipped with local knowledge and are there to lend a helping hand.
