Protective Security Officers Graduate

Today, 10 Protective Security Officers (PSOs) graduated after completing a nine week Protective Security Officer Qualification Program at the South Australia Police Academy.

They will start duties in the Physical Security Section and COVID-19 Operations Medi-Hotels.

Callum and Srna are two of the 10 successful graduates.

Callum previously worked as a hospitality attendant aboard the Ghan. He found the transition into the Protective Security Officer role enjoyable and he's been able to develop new skills and wants to apply them as he undertakes duties within the Physical Security Section.

"I enjoyed all of the physical training aspects and I'm really looking forward to the variety the job offers and experiencing more of the camaraderie that I've already experienced by being a member of SAPOL," said Callum.

Coming from a job as a process analyst, Srna found the course a rewarding and challenging experience, with the biggest highlight being the people she's met during her time at the Academy.

"The people in my course and some of the friendships formed heightened the experience for me as you support and help each other through some of the more intensive aspects of the course," Srna said.

Srna is now looking forward to applying everything she's learnt, meeting her fellow colleagues, continuing to challenge herself, and contributing to the security of South Australia as a Protective Security Officer.
