Police have made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) due to an ongoing incident in West Mackay.
Police were called to an address on Bridge Street around 2.30pm following reports of a man making threats.
The PSPA was declared at approximately 4.10 pm with the exclusion zone including Bridge Street, Hume Street and Streeter Avenue while police continue to negotiate with the man. There is no imminent danger to the public at present.
Traffic diversions are in place near Hume Street and Streeter Ave for access to Mackay Base Hospital.
Members of the public are advised to avoid the area and those within the exclusion zone are asked to remain indoors until further notice.
