PSPA Emergency Declaration Declaration At Cairns

Cairns police have declared an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) due to a fire at a property on The Esplanade.

Due to smoke and potential hazards, the PSPA was declared around 12.40am with an exclusion zone encompassing Lake Street and the Esplanade between McKenzie Street and Charles Street.

Members of the public are advised to avoid the area and those within the exclusion zone are asked to remain indoors with their windows closed until further notice.
