PSPA Emergency Declaration Declaration At Kawana

Police have made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) in relation to a chemical spill in Kawana this morning, April 1.

Emergency services were called at approximately 4.15am, following reports of a hydrochloric acid spill in a warehouse on Alexandra Street.

Police have established an exclusion zone around the facility with boundaries encompassing Alexandra Street, Farm Street, Hollingsworth Street and Power Street.

Members of the public are advised to avoid the area and those within the exclusion zone are asked to remain indoors until further notice.
