Police have made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) due to a large fire burning on Old Gympie Road in Dakabin.
The declaration was made at 4.06pm with boundaries encompassing the Bruce Highway to the east, Narangba Road to the west, Boundary Road to the north, and Alma Road to the south.
Residents are urged to shelter in place and keep their windows and doors closed due to large amounts of smoke in the area.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
