PSPA Emergency Declared at Hervey Bay, Police Report

Police have increased the exclusion zone in Urangan following the declaration of an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) yesterday, August 19.

Police were called to a Boat Harbour Drive property around 12pm on Monday following reports a man armed with a knife was making threats.

A PSPA was subsequently declared around 6.30pm with an exclusion zone encompassing Boat Harbour Drive, Lavell Street, Hammond Street and Toni Street.

Negotiations are continuing, and the exclusion zone has been extended to include Cartwright Court.

Members of the public, particularly motorists travelling to work, are advised to avoid the area.
