Police and emergency services are appealing for information as they continue to search for a woman believed to be missing in flood waters near Lismore.
About 9.50pm last night (Tuesday 29 March 2022), emergency services commenced a search and rescue operation near Wyrallah Road at Monaltrie, south of Lismore, after reports a woman had been trapped in her vehicle by floodwaters.
Police spent several hours searching for the woman and her vehicle, however have been unable to locate her.
Anita Brakel, aged 55, is described as being of Asian appearance, 150cm to 160cm tall, thin build, with black and red long hair.
Officers from Richmond Police District – with assistance from Police Rescue, Water Police and NSW SES volunteers – recommenced a search and rescue operation this morning (Wednesday 30 March 2022) in the vicinity of Wyrallah Road.
As emergency service operations continue, police are urging anyone who may have seen a 2017 white Holden Captiva station wagon, with NSW registration YHS 51F, in the greater Lismore area to contact police immediately.
Police also remind people within flood affected areas to never enter, walk, ride or drive through floodwaters.
