NSW community members and hospital staff are welcome to have their say on the $750 million Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) Hospital redevelopment.
The redevelopment, which has been fast-tracked as part of the state's COVID-19 Recovery Plan will deliver upgraded and expanded facilities including:
- an emergency department and intensive care unit,
- medical imaging suites,
- operating theatres,
- maternity, birthing and neonatal areas, and
- additional inpatient beds.
The public consultation builds on the extensive engagement already undertaken with staff, clinicians, and community members to ensure the hospital meets the growing healthcare needs of patients, staff, and the broader community.
Health Minister Brad Hazzard said the new hospital aims to meet the area's growing needs for health services into the future.
"As one of Australia's premier hospitals the RPA will undergo the biggest transformation in its 140-year history of caring for the community," Mr Hazzard said.
"The RPA is already recognised as a worldwide leader in providing excellent healthcare, education, and medical innovation for the one million people who come to the district daily to work, study, and visit loved ones."
"It is known for its leading role in providing the most complex and specialised state-wide clinical services."
"This $750 million transformation of RPA will provide even more world-class health services and incredible new opportunities for teaching and innovation."
