Public provide information on Major Crime

Major Crime Detectives have now received 36 calls from the public as they continue to investigate the suspected murder of Christie Downs man, Robert Atkins.

Robert Atkins, 29, was reported missing by his mother on 2 January 2021, but had not been seen since November 2020.

Detective Superintendent Des Bray, Major Crime Investigation Branch said, "The investigation is progressing very well with positive lines of inquiry identified, and preliminary forensic testing has provided encouraging results.

"Detectives have received a total of 36 Crime Stopper calls, and we are pleased with the amount and quality of information received.

"Police are continuing to work to narrow the search area for the body of Robert Atkins, and are likely to commence that search in the near future."

Major Crime with the assistance of Forensic Response Section have already searched a number of premises in connection with this investigation, including houses in Mander Road, Christie Downs and Halyard Crescent, Seaford and a rural property at Booborowie.

It is believed that Robert was held against his will and assaulted before he was murdered on 16 November and his body disposed of in the Port Pirie area.

Detectives have appealed to the public for information about two vehicles, and their occupants, seen near any of the locations of interest; a black 2010 Jeep Cherokee, registration S556AJE, and a silver 2008 Nissan Pathfinder, BB744J.
