Police have made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) at Kumbarilla, following a two vehicle traffic crash on the Moonie Highway earlier this morning, February 18.
Police and emergency services were called to the scene near Kumbarilla Lane at approximately 4.30am, following reports a car and a fuel tanker had collided, causing the fuel tanker to overturn, and spill a significant amount of fuel onto the road.
As a result, police have made an emergency declaration, with an exclusion zone encompassing Moonie Highway south to Kumbarilla Lane, north to Gulera Daandine Road and 500 metres to the east and west of those roads.
The drivers of the car and truck sustained non-life threatening injuries and have been taken to Dalby Hospital for treatment.
Traffic diversions are in place with the highway expected to remain closed for several hours.
Residents are asked to stay inside their dwellings, and keep windows closed and any respiratory medication on-hand. Members of the public are asked to avoid the area.
