Public Urged To Report Hoons

Council has received increased reports of hooning and dangerous driving.

It is important to report this behavior through the appropriate channels, as reckless drivers pose a clear danger to other drivers, pedestrians and property.

There are several ways to report a hoon driver. You can contact Crime Stoppers Hoon Hotline at 1800 333 000 or through the Crime Stoppers website here. You can also make a complaint in-person at the Horsham Police Station.

When making a complaint, please provide:

  • A description of the vehicle/s
  • Vehicle registration
  • Time
  • Date
  • Place
  • Description of the driver/s

This will assist the police in dealing with offenders.

Council does not install traffic-calming infrastructure like speed humps to address hoon drivers, as this tends to relocate the problem rather than stop it outright. It is important to provide accurate information to the police so the problem can be dealt with at the source.

Hoon drivers face severe consequences if caught. Under Victoria's anti hoon laws, offenders can receive significant fines, loss of license, vehicle seizure and even jail time.
