A man has been arrested following a pursuit with a stolen car through the southern suburbs and hills this morning.
About 9.45am on Tuesday 5 July, a stolen Holden Statesman with Victorian registration plates was seen by police travelling on Flaxmill Road at Morphett Vale. Police did not pursue the car and was quickly lost sight of.
The vehicle was allegedly stolen during a break-in and assault at Mildura last night.
It was picked up again heading east on Chandlers Hill Road towards Cherry Gardens, and followed through to Scott Creek Road. A member of the public inadvertently had its tyres spiked on Cherry Gardens Road.
The stolen car was successfully spiked on Longwood Road however continued driving on to Stock Road towards Mylor and on to Strathalbyn Road.
PolAir tracked the vehicle on Old Mount Barker Road and Arbury Park Road where it drove onto private property. An unmarked police car was hit by the stolen Holden as it left the property back on to Arbury Park Road causing minor damage.
The Holden was spiked again causing all four tyres to deflate but continued driving on old Mount Barker Road and Piccadilly Road before coming on to the South Eastern Freeway. It travelled a short distance before exiting via the Stirling off-ramp where it broke down and the driver subsequently arrested.
A 37-year-old man from Mildura has been charged with dangerous driving to cause a police pursuit, driving disqualified, fail to stop at a crash scene and two counts of assaulting an emergency worker. He has been refused bail and is expected to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court tomorrow.
