The Tasmanian Liberal Government is taking action to grow and diversify our economic opportunities across the world in a bid to further cement our position as one of the best places in the world to live, invest in and do business with.
Today, the Tasmanian Government will lead a delegation of 35 representatives to Singapore and Vietnam as part of our investment to secure new sales and partnerships for Tasmania.
Across the five-day trade mission, meetings will be held with senior government, business, education, food, beverage and hospitality and defence industry representatives in Singapore, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
This is the second delegation under our recently released two-year Tasmanian Trade and Investment Mission Plan 2024 following our New Zealand Tourism and Trade Mission in August.
Together, trade with Singapore and Vietnam represents an annual economic injection well above $300 million and attracts around 800 international students a year to our shores, meaning there is still significant opportunity to grow these markets.
As part of this trade mission, we have attracted some of our state's most respected organisations, businesses and most loved products to show our existing and new partners what we have to offer.
Focusing on high-end hospitality and retail buyers, our food and beverage sector is being represented by Tasmanian Oyster Co, Three Friends Abalone, Sumich, Reid Fruits, Forager Foods and will additionally showcase Cape Grim beef, Petuna Ocean Trout, Roaring Forties lamb, Flinders Island rock flathead, Robbins Island wagyu, and Wellington Apiary Wildflower honey.
Representing distillers will be Turner Stillhouse, Hartshorn Distillery and the Tasmanian Whisky and Spirits Association, with featured products to include spirits from Callington Mill, Hobart Distillery, Lark Distilling Co, Launceston Distillery, Overeem Distillery and Spring Bay Distillery.
Selling our international education credentials to attract more students to Tasmania will be Study Tasmania, the University of Tasmania, Government Education and Training International (GETI), The Friends' School, The Hutchins School, Scotch Oakburn College and St Michael's Collegiate.
The Tasmanian Singapore and Vietnam Investment and Trade Mission will conclude on Friday 14 October 2022.
