QantasLink Boosts Flights To Kangaroo Island

South Australian Tourism Commission

QantasLink, in partnership with the South Australian Tourism Commission, has increased the number of flights to Kangaroo Island from six to nine per week between April and October 2025.

The increase will drive tourism during the traditional off-peak season, with daily flights between Adelaide and Kingscote providing more opportunities for day trips and increased flexibility to tourists and business

travellers.

Kangaroo Island will also soon welcome the larger Dash-8 Q400 aircraft from February 2025. This increased frequency coupled with more seats made possible by the Q400, will boost capacity to the island over this period by 48 per cent year on year.

The investment in additional mid-life Dash 8 Q400 aircraft, to replace the Q300 aircraft that currently operate to Kangaroo Island and reflects the national carrier's ongoing commitment to keep regional Australia connected.

The first Q400 flight to Kangaroo Island is scheduled to operate on 16 February 2025, marking a new chapter for the island with the Q400 set to bring improved efficiencies, reliability, and customer experience for Kangaroo Island locals and visitors.

Tourism Minister Zoe Bettison said the continued partnership between Qantas and the South Australian Tourism Commission is very beneficial to Kangaroo Island's tourism sector.

"The increased flight frequency and capacity will not only boost visitor numbers but also provide vital connectivity for the local community. It's a win-win situation that will further cement Kangaroo Island's position as a premier tourist destination," Minister Bettison said.

"This partnership ensures that this iconic destination remains easily accessible for both domestic and

international visitors, supporting the local tourism industry and economy."

QantasLink Chief Executive Officer, Rachel Yangoyan said "we're so pleased to be adding more QantasLink flights to Kangaroo Island to make it easier for locals and

tourists to travel to the island with the support of the South Australian Tourism Commission."

"We know how important reliable connections are for communities like Kangaroo Island and these new

services mean there will be more seats and a schedule that gives tourists more options to travel to this idyllic part of the world," Ms Yangoyan said.

"Our recent investment in our regional turboprop fleet means that from mid-February, all QantasLink flights to Kangaroo Island will be operated by our larger Q400 aircraft which offer more seats, a faster flight time and will improve reliability."
