Job creating infrastructure projects are progressing in Queensland, as no new cases and another two recoveries further reduce the number of active COVID-19 cases, two days before more restrictions ease.
There are now 16 active cases, 1030 recovered and six deaths for a total of 1052.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said that was welcome health news, while economic efforts ramp up.
To stimulate the economy during the pandemic, the Government has previously announced the acceleration of new road projects, but current work is also progressing rapidly, with tunnelling now beginning at the Roma Street underground station.
"Fundamentally this is about jobs - over 7000 jobs for the entire rail project and over 200 jobs on this site alone," Ms Palaszczuk said.
"We know that COVID-19 is having a big impact nationally on people's jobs and livelihoods.
"We are working now right across Queensland looking at regional infrastructure and development programs that can deliver jobs for Queenslanders.
"And, as we know, some of our restrictions are starting to ease this weekend and hopefully that is going to see people returning to work.
"But when the restrictions are lifted this weekend, social distancing is still very important."

- Barbecues, swimming areas, playgrounds and shower and toilet facilities will re-open this weekend at Seqwater and Sunwater dams, lakes, weirs and recreation areas.
And all fossicking areas across the state will re-open from midnight Friday.
