Police are hunting a man who tried to abduct a schoolboy waiting for a bus northwest of Brisbane, Queensland early Wednesday.
The nine-year old was waiting for his morning school bus on Shellytop Road in Durong around 8am when a Toyota Landcruiser pulled up nest to him and the driver tried to entice him into the car several times before repeatedly yelling at him in an attempt to coerce him into the 4WD, the body told police.
Police say when the child continued to refuse, the vehicle drove off.
The boy was not physically injured and the man did not get out of the vehicle at any stage.
The man is described as Caucasian, with a solid build, short brown hair and a scar near his left eye. He was wearing white rimmed sunglasses and a black singlet.
The vehicle is described as an 80s series Toyota Landcruiser, silver/grey in colour with faded paint in parts and in poor condition.
It had a black snorkel, black bulbar (with a dent in it), one roof rack and side steps. There was a large crack on the passenger side front windscreen, from top to bottom and spreading outwards, as well as a smashed driver’s side mirror with small shards of glass left in it.
The spare tyre on the rear had a black cover over it and a ‘Ravhead’ sticker on the rear window.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident, or observed a vehicle of this description in the local area to contact them.
