QLD Man Extradited, Charged in 2022 Leumeah Murder

A man - extradited from Queensland - will face court today charged with murder following the death of a man in Sydney's southwest.

Just before 2pm on Monday 14 March 2022, police attended a unit on Middleton Road, Leumeah after concerns were raised for the occupant.

Officers attached to Campbelltown City Police Area Command attended and allegedly found the body of a 49-year-old man inside, suffering multiple stab wounds.

Detectives commenced an investigation under Strike Force Carbethon.

As part of ongoing inquiries, Strike Force detectives travelled to Queensland on Wednesday (19 March 2025), and with the assistance of Queensland Police arrested a 30-year-old man in Rockhampton.

On Thursday 20 March 2025, the man appeared at Rockhampton Magistrates Court, where detectives applied for, and were granted, his extradition to NSW.

He was escorted to Sydney and taken to Mascot Police Station where the outstanding warrant was executed, and he was charged with murder.

The man was refused bail to appear before Downing Centre Local Court today (Friday 21 March 2025)
