QPS Boosts Leadership with 34 New Officers, Executives

The Queensland Police Service (QPS) acknowledges the appointment and promotion of 24 commissioned officers and 10 senior executives into leadership positions today.

The appointments are testament to the QPS's investment in leadership and professional development as part of its ongoing commitment to keeping Queenslanders safe.

Commissioned officers hold the rank of Inspector, Superintendent and Chief Superintendent, while today's non-sworn Senior Executives are at the Chief Officer and Director level.

In order to achieve a commissioned officer or executive role, individuals must demonstrate strong leadership qualities, relevant skills and personal attributes, and commitment to service over an extended period of time in a highly competitive environment.

Acting Commissioner of Police, Shane Chelepy APM, acknowledged the many years of loyal and dedicated service performed by today's appointees and their commitment to serving the Queensland community.

"Today we recognise the service, leadership and management expertise of our members who are dedicated to supporting both the frontline and our community across the vast state of Queensland," Acting Commissioner Chelepy said.

"Our Service is strengthened by the high levels of professional and ethical standards that these commissioned officers and senior executives bring to the job.

"With their strong leadership, strategic vision, and diverse experience, today's newly appointed commissioned officers and senior executives live and breathe the QPS's values of Integrity, Respect and Courage."

"The QPS continues to step up for the community, as recently seen during Cyclone Alfred response, and having the opportunity to contribute to a Service that supports the community so readily in times of change, disaster and hardship is something I feel privileged to be a part of."
