QS Rankings: WUR remains top university

Wageningen University & Research is this year in 124th place in the prestigious QS World University Rankings. WUR is down 1 place compared to last year, but has increased 26 places over the past 10 years. With the 124th place, WUR belongs to the top 10 percent of the best universities worldwide.

Half of the ranking is based on reputation: 40% academic reputation and 10% employer reputation. The other half is based on staff/student ratio (20%), normalized number of citations per researcher (20%) and number of foreign employees (5%) and students (5%).

De QS Ranking 2022

The indicator result for employer reputation has dropped this year. Why that is, is still unclear. WUR scores best on the indicators for 'staff/student ratio' (#52 worldwide) and 'International Research Network' (#43 worldwide). The first indicator describes how easily students can gain meaningful access to teachers and staff. The second indicator describes the quality of the international research network.

A total of 1422 organizations were included in the ranking this year. The ranking is calculated based on data from 2021. The citations are calculated over the years 2016-2021 and were supplied to QS by Scopus.
