Queenscliffe Maritime Museum Hosts Mural

In conjunction with the Queenscliffe Maritime Museum, Council is delighted to announce that the spectacular Queenscliffe Panoramic Mural is on display at the Gil Allbutt Boat Shed.

Despite its age, the 13-metre mural depicting Queenscliff, Swan Bay, and Point Lonsdale has endured the test of time and maintains its vivid colour.

Painted in 1991 by Marina Barker, the stunning mural has been in storage for many years and has rarely been exhibited, making this is a rare opportunity for art and maritime enthusiasts to see the painting in all its glory.

The Queenscliffe Maritime Museum invited the Mayor and Deputy Mayor to the Gil Allbutt Boat Shed to see the painting up close. Mayor Di Rule said "We are fortunate to have this stunning mural on display at the Queenscliffe Maritime Museum, at 13 metres long, there's a lot to see, so set aside some time to have a really good look. Council thanks the museum for giving this stunning piece a home in the Gil Allbutt Boat Shed – the perfect setting for this piece."

Deputy Mayor Brendan Monahan said of the painting "It is fascinating to see how much has changed in the Borough. I encourage maritime buffs, and anyone interested to visit QMM and take a look."

The mural is on loan from Council to the museum for a period of 1 year.

The Queenscliffe Maritime Museum invites visitors to call in and see the mural for themselves.
