Critical support for Queensland's community housing providers will be given a boost, with the Miles Government announcing an additional $4 million for the Community Housing Futures program.

The program offers access to specialist advice, grants, tools and training to help community housing providers to grow and manage larger portfolios of social and affordable housing.

Community housing providers are helping to deliver the Miles Government's Homes for Queenslanders plan, including the 53,500 social homes the state needs.

Community Housing Futures is administered by peak bodies Community Housing Industry Association (Queensland), Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Housing Queensland, and Q Shelter.

Expanding the program builds on the success achieved in the past two years, and brings total funding to the program to $8 million.

As stated by Housing Minister Meaghan Scanlon:

"We've been working hand in hand with the community housing sector to deliver more homes for Queenslanders in need, and through our Homes for Queenslanders we'll build even more.

"There's a lot that goes on behind the scenes to build homes and support tenants, and this is about giving providers the tools at their disposal to build their portfolios in a strategic and structured way.

"We'll continue to work with the community housing sector and help them grow."

As stated by Neil Willmett:

"This investment is significant. The Queensland Government is committed to ensuring more community housing providers are in the position to grow. I'm pleased that through CHF, we will be taking another step forward to again support and strengthen the important role of housing providers."

As stated by Annemaree Callander, EO of Community Housing Industry Association:

"Increasing the supply of community housing is a vital part of addressing the housing crisis. These additional funds are very welcome and will assist community housing providers to deliver more social and affordable homes throughout Queensland."

As stated by Fiona Caniglia, CEO of Q Shelter:

"This is a genuine partnership between Government and three industry and peak bodies. We are determined to deliver more support for community housing providers as they work to increase much needed housing supply."
