Quotes attributable to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, Communities and Arts Minister Leeanne Enoch:
"Youth Week highlights the amazing achievements, contribution and potential of the more than 910,000 young Queenslanders, aged 12 to 25 years, who call our great state home.
"There's plenty to celebrate at Youth Week 2024 with many local councils and community-based organisations supporting events, competitions and workshops from science, sport and comedy to traditional performance art.
"Almost 1 in 5 Queenslanders is a young person and potentially a future leader of their community and Queensland's job-generating industries of tomorrow.
"That's why Youth Week 2024 is part of the Miles Labor Government's commitment to securing Queensland's economic, social, environmental and cultural success for current and future generations of young Queenslanders.
"The Miles Government is supporting more than double the number of Queensland Youth Week events around the state than the LNP did when they were last in Government.
"It's time the LNP came clean on the cuts they're planning to the youth services budget, such as the $4 million they axed from training which cruelly savaged work opportunities for hundreds of vulnerable young Queenslanders who were left to fend for themselves."
